Regular Meeting minutes – May 3, 2011

Sorry these notes are a bit sketchy.

The May meeting of MCWA was called to order at 7:31pm by vice president dave w9ozp.

dave asked for Introductions with the question,

what is your favorite band and mode?

then it was announced there would be a Collins net tomorrow night at 6:30pm on 3880.also, there would be V E C Testing in May at the church.

Larry kb9dip informed us that W9hog had open heart surgery two weeks ago. He is Recovering slowly.

the treasurer’s report was given and the current Balance for the club WAS STATED AT: $3700.

Everyone in the club was invited by John K9ze to be a part of k9esv field day at the government center in Woodstock. John wanted them to know it was important for those interested to register with mcraces web site www.mcraces.org.

w9ca field day. Set 3a records. Cornell’s group is very competitive.

John nj1e started a club for kids field day station setting up 2 alpha in the forest preserve in waconda. Looking for kids just for fun.

Newsletter: A big thank you went out to Jerry for the current edition of the newsletter.

Community events.

Wendell, n9rep, requested hams to volunteer for the 21 century bike run Sunday June 5 He gave the location but I didn’t catch it. 1600 bicycles excellent support form ham operators ride the route assist where needed. 7 in the morning to 4 afternoon. Pbj and bananas spaghetti dinner at donely’s afterwards, reimbursement for gasoline expenses. Got 2 meter mobile. Got ht. Wendell said, I’ll post on the reflector and contact the wellcars folks.

Woodstock challenge Saturday before field day.

Dx terrific he says been working all continents. Nice qso. Talking with Japan. 15 meters. Sierra leon. 5v7cc. t31a carabodi 200 watts into center fed dipole. 17 meters holding up till late at night. Sunspots are down solar flux is up. 6 meters still struggling.

Projects: he talked at the wx6x case, had to take all his towers down accept two meters. I didn t catch his name.

On the web site swap for sale through Ken.

Finally, a lady who’s name I do not remember talked about and offered raffle tickets for the Y L scholarship fund.
