McHenry County Wireless Association - Library Rules

MCWA Library

The purpose of this document is to establish a process for a club library. It attempts to define the overall process and the responsibilities of the participants. It serves to both explain the process of borrowing volumes and the general expectations the borrower has agreed to by borrowing material.

Borrowing Material from the Library

Use of the library is restricted to members of the club in good standing (membership dues are current). Request material by notifying the librarian by email or in person. Material that is requested at one meeting would be obtainable at the next meeting after it’s availability. Material will be allotted by the date of request. Failure of a borrower to attend a meeting when the material is available allows the librarian to deliver the material to the next person on the reserve list that is present or to a member who requests it at that meeting, at the discretion of the librarian. Checked out material can be reserved by request. Material is checked out from one meeting to the next. Material can be renewed only if it is not reserved. Overdue material will result in a fine. Failure to pay fines or reimburse for lost or damaged material will result in a suspension of library privileges. Checking out or returning material other than at meetings can be done only at the discretion and convenience of the librarian. Transactions with anyone other than the librarian are the sole responsibility of the borrower. Failure to return checked out material by the due date (material is checked from meeting date to meeting date), results in a fine of five dollars per meeting date.

Adding Material to the Library

The borrower at or before the due date must pay for lost or damaged material. Fines will be levied for overdue material until returned or reimbursed. The librarian will maintain a list of replacement cost and the decisions of damage are solely the decision of the librarian. Members can request addition of material to the library through the librarian. The decision to request funds to add new material to the library is solely the decision of the librarian. Material donated to the library must be presented to the librarian who can pass on or accept the donations. All donations become club property and as such can be disposed of in whatever means judged acceptable by a quorum vote of the membership. Motions to dispose of library assets originate solely from the club librarian.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Librarian

The position of librarian is filled by a quorum vote on a motion of nomination. The librarian is responsible for the condition and location of all library assets and will manage and maintain those assets. To the best of their ability, the librarian will assist members borrowing or returning library property.

Library Content

The library content can be books, video, audio, and/or anything else deemed appropriate by the librarian and the membership.
