Regular Meeting minutes – August 2, 2011

The Meeting of the Mchenry County Wireless Association was called to order by our president Ken KB9I at 7:35 pm.

Ken called for Introductions and I counted 23 present.

He also spoke briefly about the two recent severe storms. We had one the Friday before the meeting and another on the way to the meeting.

After the first storm, He related his experiences about having to climb a very tall tower and replace 13 antennas.

Next, Ken opened the floor for nominations but none were given. I agreed to run again for secretary.

There was no old business.

Under new business Wendell gave the particulars about a new amateur radio satellite being launched on August 3. It will have one fm voice downlink with 15 or 20 messages, and, It will have a 70 centimeter sideband uplink and a 2 meter sideband downlink. It will also have telemetry links. For further information please visit the amsat.org website. Wendell also said the launch of this satellite will be shown on NASA TV.

Before the end of the meeting Ken invited everyone to join them at the Village Squire for pizza and beverages.

After the break, Marty gave a fine program on how to properly design and set up a mobile installation.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:45 pm.
