Regular Meeting minutes – December 7, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 7:31pm by our vice President Dave, KA9OZP.
We had a visitor, Ann Woods, I don't believe she has a ham call.
Dave asked for introductions and requested that each ham give the year he or she got their first ham ticket.

We changed the order of things a bit so our guest could get back home at a reasonable hour.
Hap Holly KC9RP gave the program. He spoke about his creation of the Bear information service, a weekly audio information program for the now defunked Broadcast Employees Amaetur Repeater group.
He furtehr explained his ideas of what the Rain Report has in it and how it came into existance.
Hap was recognized for many of his efforts on behalf of ham radio with the Daton ham-vention Ham of the Year award in 2002.
After the break, we had the business meeting. the treasurer's report was given and it was noted that our current balance was $2823.39.
Apparently, a few years ago the club had increased our yearly dues to build up our treasury. It was now felt that our treasury was sufficiently built up so that dues could be reduced back to their previous level. In this light, Marty K9MLP made a motion which was seconded by Jerry N9AB ??, to reduce our annual club dues to $15.
The motion passed.
Marty also made and Marc WA9YVL, seconded a motion to donate $50 to Hap's "The Rain Report."
In the DX report, a few reported working the southern Atlantic and Christmas Island on the good days. But so far, 10 meters is still spuratic and 40 meters is wide open.
The question was asked "is anyone going to work the last space shuttle?"
Under old business, Someone told us about a relatively new 6 meter casual am net which meets every Monday night at 8:30pm on 50.4 megahertz.
There was a short discussion of hams with tower problems either getting injured putting up the towers or getting in trouble with the city because of their antennas. One such ham is trying to put up eleven towers on his property near Peoria.
There was no new business and the meeting was adjourned at 9:01pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Marc Marino
