Minutes MCWA Meeting March 3, 2008

The meeting was call to order at 8:34 pm 3/4 /2008 by W9MU Jack the president.  14 members in attendance. Last months minutes were accepted.  A discussion of the K9RN reflector ensued.  W9MU Jack and KB9I Ken were added as owners with K9KQB Eric and KA9CAR as moderator.  W9MU Jack expressed the desire to make KA9CAR an owner too. 

The treasurer N9TZL Dennis reported $2476.65 as of January.  One check to KB9I for $99.95 to renew the MCWA web site domain, leaving the treasury at 2376.70 with one check for dues collected at this meeting for $20.

W9MU discussed the club purchasing a listing under "Visit Your Local RADIO CLUB" in WorldRadio Magazine.  The package includes the listing, newsletter editor receives a copy of WorldRadio every month, and EIGHT one-year WorldRadio subscription certificates for raffle prizes for $70.  A motion to purchase the package was made by KB9GIN Ed, seconded by N9AVY Jerry.  Motion carried. 

A discussed developed regarding next months program, the Scarborough Reef DXpedition talk and slide show by Mike, K9AJ.  The need to publicize the program was discussed.  After discussion, the normal meeting place, the township hall was selected for the meeting.  W9MU suggested the club offer to pay expenses for K9AJ.  W9MLP made a motion the club offer a $50 stipendium, seconded by KB9GIN Ed.  The motion carried. 

The treasurer N9TZL Dennis reported it is time to pay the township room rent of $25 per meeting.  After discussion the decision was made to pay for the next 6 months. 

KA9CAR gave some history on the K9RN Internet reflector.

WB9MMM Gene announced he had brought a quantity of his magazine "Amateur Television Quarterly" for anyone interested in a free copy.  He described a few of the many interesting articles in this issue.  Many people secured a copy and the few remaining copies were set aside to be available at the next meeting.

KB9I reported the repeater was doing well.  W9MU and N9AVY gave some DX comments.  N9REP Wendell announced he will have a Public Service Calendar next meeting.  The annual weather spotters course will be given at McHenry County College, March 27 at 7:00 pm.  The Sterling Hamfest is this Sunday.  A decision was made to have a meeting in July this year.  The nature of the meeting could be a picnic, a dinner or just a regular meeting to be determined later.

After a raffle the program on Modulation by W9MU was presented.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
