Subject: McHenry County Wireless Association Regular Meeting minutes February 5, 2008
The February MCWA meeting was held at the Free Methodist Church in Woostock. The meeting was called to order at 7:40 pm after allowing a bit of extra travel time considering the weather. N9TZL the treasurer reported an increase in the treasury of additional dues. KB9I reported the repeater is functioning well. W9MLP reported only one more program confirmed and a need for additional programs. With only 10 people in attendance, not all members, a quorum was not present, thus no business was conducted. Randy KC9KHG asked about field day. Jack W9MU explained the membership decided not to participate this year but he suggested groups of members could visit field day sites and report back on their observations. A discussion ensued regarding the consensus required to put together a field day group. Everyone agreed a large gap exists between the contester, emergency service and mentoring mindsets. Marty W9MLP suggested any group that puts together a crew could do field day, especially if they do not expect the club to provide the bulk of the funding for the event.
The history moment was on Edwin H. Armstrong by W9MLP who expanded the presentation, postponing W9MU Jack's program on modulation until the next meeting when a larger turnout is expected. After a spirited discussion about Armstrong and FM verses AM modulation the meeting was officially concluded.
